Testimony – Jesus is the Door Pt3
Here is a physical manifestation from the Lord, confirming the testimony discussed over the past 2 days – Jesus is the Door. You can see the previous 2 discussions here: Jesus is the Door and Jesus is the Door Pt2.
Today, I went to a discipleship gathering at a local coffee shop. The Pastor was giving me some good insight on this recent revelation from the Lord. To step through. How? Surrender to His Spirit.
We completed the fellowship and I leave the coffee shop. As I’m walking down the sidewalk to my car, I grabbed a tract from my book bag (I have a pile of miscellaneous tracts that I carry.) Without a clue of the tracts I have in my bag, I reach in and grab one out. Here’s a scanned copy of the tract –
I really need to dwell with Him on this topic. God is speaking. A burning bush, I need to turn aside and take a look –
Exodus 3:1-4 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
God bless you and yours. Glory to God for this testimony. Jesus is the door, amen. I’ll post a follow-up when He guides me on this further. I need to pray.
In love,
joseph
Joseph,
I received your email and had a chance to look over the blog posts you mentioned.
The two challenges you mentioned are spot-on. There are instances where Jesus tells someone to go and sin no more, and even more passages from the Old Testament or the apostles which tell us to “be holy, as God is holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16 for example) You are correct to note that these are commands, not suggestions.
Additionally, it is nonsense to suggest God would give us a command He knew we could not obey, no matter what. We are able to obey only by His grace, but we still obey.
So is it possible to obey God at all times and in all things? The answer has to be yes. We know God has promised a way of escape from temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13), and from that same verse we know we will not experience temptation that is too powerful for us. How can it be too powerful, if the Holy Spirit is in us (1 Corinthians 6:19)?
It becomes a matter of whether or not the Christian will take the way of escape. Will they? Again, the answer is yes. “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) You can see the same idea in 1 John 2:3,4.
Joseph, I know this doesn’t begin to scratch the surface, but I pray it serves as a starting-point for you. Feel free to email me with any questions you have.
Hey Kriegel, thanks for stopping by and giving me some words of encouragement. I was just heading to bed and felt an unction to read a daily devotion I haven’t ready in a while.
Pretty much nail on the head for this topic He’s guiding me through: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0709.html
Thanks again
[…] He continued to minster to me on this topic with a physical manifestation. It can be read here: Jesus is the Door Pt3.) Here is His further guidance on the topic. Thank you Jesus […]
I don’t think I like that link you provided, because it is misleading.
“‘I cannot live a holy life,’ but you can decide to let Jesus Christ make you holy.” But if Christ makes you holy, then you DO live a holy life.
“‘Ye cannot serve the Lord God’; but you can put yourself in the place where God’s almighty power will come through you.” But if you act in obedience and put yourself where God wants you, then you are serving God.
It sounds like the author is trying to stress that we can only live obediently through God’s grace. While true, it should have been worded differently.
It is true that Joshua told the children of Israel, “You will not be able to serve the LORD, for He is a holy God, He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgression or your sins.” I am not arguing with him. But why is he saying this? Is he telling them that it is physically impossible for them to serve God?
That wouldn’t make sense. He is also not telling them that God will not forgive their sins for any reason whatsoever. He will forgive their sins, if they repent.
And there’s the problem. Moses and Joshua knew from past history that the children of Israel preferred serving themselves over serving God. Serving God went so strongly against their nature that they WOULDN’T do it and WOULDN’T repent.
See, a Christ-follower has a new nature. They love God and WANT to serve Him. “Ye cannot serve the Lord God”? I beg to differ.
The way I read it is that we can’t live a holy life, under our own efforts, via our own doing, via works, from the flesh, etc. “I” can’t live a holy life, only by surrendering to Christ can I. So ya, I end up living a holy life, but only because of Christ Jesus. Without Christ, I can’t live a holy life. At least that’s how I read it – dying to self and allowing Him to do it. Like you said obedience, serving, being a living sacrifice, crucifying my passions and desires, etc.
[…] I need to go pray.. Thank you Lord for this testimony. You are the Door, the Way, the Truth, the Life, the True Vine, the Light, the Bread of Life, the Shepherd, the Son of God.. and no one comes to the Father except through You. Lord, I pray for continued ministering to me on this. Help me Helper, teach me Teacher. Thank you Teacher, thank you Helper, thank you Father. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. (Update: The Lord answers this prayer, praise God. See the 2 updates: Jesus is the Door Pt2 and Jesus is the Door Pt3) […]
