And YES! I do that all the time when I’m moving forward. I have discussed this recently with a few brothers and sisters. It seems every time we think we are making good progress, wham! 1Cor10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

I think it’s the Lord’s way of keeping us humble. Otherwise we let things get to our heads, we get full of pride, etc. Or, it is Satan seeing our advancement and attacking. Or maybe both? The scripture about Satan’s request to sift Peter may be what we experience in these situations:

31 And the Lord said. “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”
34 Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”

Peter was convinced that he was ready to go w/ Him.. even to death. I think the Lord humbled him because of pride.. why? “so that you may later strengthen your brethren”

Maybe that’s what happens to us.. We go through these things so that our characters are strengthened… Thus, we can later strengthen our brethren when they are in similar situations. That’s my take on it. :)
