Awoken by God
Good morning! Well, this morning was the 2nd time in a couple of weeks that I was awoken by God with a flash of light. Both times, I wake up in bed from a dream and my thoughts are on God (praise God nothing else is on my mind!), and both times it was a flash of light. Here is a quick story of when I was awoken by God this morning around 5am –
Holy Spirit Awakening
A brother in-Christ and I have been discussing our individual spirits and the Holy Spirit in us, and how they work together. We are both being awakened and eyes are being opened from our Helper teaching us. We have talked on this a couple of times after Church and a bit in email. This is completely God.. Check this out. He emails me yesterday –
Hey Joe, I was up this morning watching Les Feldick and he pointed out Romans 8:6 [sic] – “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

Later in the day, I’m reading a couple daily devotions. Once in a while, I’ll pick up an extra daily devotion from Oswald Chambers. It is not part of my daily reads but I picked it up yesterday. I decided to read the previous days devotion as well, bam.. Romans 8:16 again. (Click here to read it).
Wakened by God
This gets me to this morning’s post, awoken by God. I was in the midst of a dream where this brother and I were at Church. He was doing the sermon at Church that day. This is funny. The Pastor called him that morning and said he couldn’ t make it in. So he had a last minute sermon to do. He was about to start the sermon, and then he stops me in church and says “hey, by the way, I’m going to call on you during church to come up there and speak on this topic about the spirit.”
I’m like “Uh, why me?” He said “You have been studying this topic and God has been showing you things and I want you to share it.” Me: “Uh, I’m not really studying it.” He ignores me and goes up to the pulpit. I start freaking out on what to say and scripture is going through my head. He calls me up to the pulpit, I walk up next to him and he says Joe has something to share. I look out into the church, and words start flowing.. That’s when I wake up from the dream.
When I woke up from the dream, I still had my eyes closed, and my mind was on scripture. Then, I started to dwell on this topic about the Holy Spirit. As soon as I thought that the Holy Spirit is in us, I saw a flash of light. I opened my eyes to see if it was from a car driving by and it was completely black. A little freaky, but I closed by eyes and said hi to God. Then.. a rumble of thunder.
Last time this happened, it was the exact same thing of being awoken by God – I woke up from a dream, had Spirit on my mind, a flash of light with my eyes closed, and then a roll of thunder. A lot of people will say, “coincidence, it was just a storm that woke you up.” The 2 times I was awoken from the flashes of light, I had the same thinking after I heard the thunder – “Oh, just a storm.. not really God.” But see, both times I stayed up, waiting for more lightning and thunder. Nothing. Zilch. Notta. I have been up since 5am, not another flash or another sound.
The last time this happened, after not seeing any more flashes or hearing thunder, I went and checked the weather on my laptop. There was a light green spec on the radar in the area of my home, nothing more around on the entire map.
Good morning God
So, I get up and have an email in my inbox from a man requesting advice on what to do. He was fearful of some wicked spirits because of the use of a parker brother’s board game as a child. I gave him some encouragement on prayer and standing in-Christ, that the Lord is in Him and greater is He that is in Him than any wicked spirits that are in the world. To command these spirits to go in the name of Jesus via the authority he has as a child of God.
Then, I read the word this morning. Same messages again from God –
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1 John 4:12-13 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1 John 4:15-17 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
I suggest reading all of 1 John 4. It is a great summary of the gospel. But at any rate, there ya go. Awoken by God. Blessed be the Lord.
