Be careful little eyes what you see

Jesus lamp eye

I was just reading an article over at Pete Wilson’s blog titled “Are you absolutely confident that God is with you?” Personally, it is a dangerous thing to dwell upon this, basing it on our own understanding (and emotions).  Let’s see what the Word says on this topic –

First and foremost:

Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

We can’t answer such a question under our own understanding, reasoning, emotions, etc. We can easily be deceived by the flesh.  Thus, we have to “Trust in the LORD”.  How do we do this?  We ask the Lord what He says on this topic:

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Let us take a look at what Paul says pertaining to Abraham.  A perfect example for us on this question:

Romans 4:20-22 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

The promise of God for us is that He will never leave us or forsake us.  We may grieve/quench the Spirit of God, but if we confess/repent, He is faithful and just to forgive:

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So what I’m getting at here is be careful little eyes what you see…  If we start to dwell on this and believe He is not with us, Satan has succeeded in deceiving us.. Also, we should keep in mind that if we have grieved/quenched the Spirit, He is faithful and just to cleanse us..  Not in 1 week, not in 10 days… not in 3 days…. We are cleansed immediately.  It is very important that we do not teeter here..  The wicked one wants us to feel ashamed, unworthy and unable to face God.  I use to get sick to my stomach, unable to read the word, etc. In the past, when I have sinned and then confessed, I would say “It’s going to take a few days to get back”.  I learned that this was the wicked one deceiving me.  During those “few days”, I was in trouble… big big trouble.  The wall of protection had a hole in it and it began to crumble.. Sometimes the few days turned into a few weeks, and then months..  If we believe in His word and hold true to it at all costs, regardless of what the evil one speaks into our ears, then we get up, dust off, and keep on keepin’ on.

In love
