Testimony – How I hear from God

Yesterday, I was looking around for others who blog about how they hear from God. There is a deep desire to fellowship with those that are also experiencing God and hear from Him. I found a great article located here. Trevor Lund gives some excellent examples with scripture on how to hear from God.

Then, last night I was talking with my cousin on the phone (he is a photographer and is involved in nature a lot). He shared how he experiences God in nature and likewise, I shared some testimonies of how I hear from God through nature.

This leads me up to this testimony that took place a couple of hours ago. It is very hard to expose my wickedness openly on a blog, but it is for the glory of God, to reveal Him, and I am confessing my sinful man. Regardless, this is another testimony of how I hear from God through nature. In order to do so, blinders must be removed – Eyes to see –

ignoring truth3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4
Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

If you haven’t been following this blog lately, check out this testimony real quick on how I hear from God through nature. This is a very similar story: God crossing over into the seen.

Ok, onto the testimony. This summer, I have a new friend. Whenever I’m outside and dwelling upon the Lord, he shows up. My friend is a red cardinal. He shows up when I am dwelling on an important lesson from God. As my mind thinks a thought that is ministering to me, a loud chirp in the distance. It is the same chirp I heard in the above testimony. Even when I’m in the living room reading the word of God or dwelling on a lesson, he’ll show up outside the window on the other side of my laptop screen. There’s just a few branches out the window, and he happens to land in my direct view, at the same time the Lord is teaching me something important. That’s one of many ways in how I hear from God.

And I know, many people who don’t understand these things will say it’s a coincidence. If they were in my shoes, they would see what I see. They would see that this bird barely shows up outside this window in front of me. Maybe 5-7 times this summer he has shown up out the window on the branch, and each time, I was in a deep dwelling with the Lord. Am I always on my laptop in a deep dwelling with the Lord? No. Anyways, I don’t know why I’m talking about the naysayers.. Who cares. I know what I know. I am fully convinced that God is real.

Ok ok, now I’m really onto the testimony, haha. I’m outside today and I look over at some horseradish that’s growing. It’s growing next to the drainage line that flows from the septic tank to the field. The horseradish roots run very deep, so I had a thought of spraying it with round-up to kill the plant as preventative maintenance. Roots can really cause some problems with septic lines. Then, the wickedness came through.

I’m staring at the plant off in the distance and thought to myself – It’s my roommates problem. See, my roommate and I do not have a good relationship and I’m waiting on the Lord to open up doors for me to move on. So I have this thought: “It’s their problem.” Ok.. *heavy sigh*. This wickedness is still there. Lord help me. I just realized this is almost an identical testimony. Please, read this testimony: Faith in His Provisions.

As I’m going through this spiritual warfare (Initial thought: take care of it. Enemy came in: It’s their problem), and as soon as I realized that the battle in the mind was going on, here comes my friend. As I’m staring at the horseradish plant dwelling on this wickedness of the mind and contemplating doing the right thing..  he comes in and lands directly on the horseradish that I’m staring at. He flapped his wings as the plant leaves are very unstable for a bird that size.. but the plant settled down and he sat there, staring at me. lol

So then the war continued. “I’m honoring the Sabbath.” Ah, but I heard from the Lord. So I obeyed and went and took care of it.

Anyways, sometimes it’s hard to show the hidden wickedness inside of me. But it’s truth and He told me to reveal these things. So there ya have it. That’s one of the ways that I hear from God. Thank you Lord for this testimony, may it bless you and your Kingdom. In Jesus name, amen.
