Unity and Oneness with God
The Lord and I did a bible study this morning at an assisted living retirement center. As I readied myself, I worried about not having a message. The Sword of the Spirit: “Don’t worry, I will put words in your mouth.” So I prayed. As I started prayer, the verse that has been speaking to me the last couple of days (see here and here) was on my lips:
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
I can not stress the power behind this verse enough. My entire lesson this week has come full circle and the Word has now exploded. Check this testimony/teaching out –
This is a huge teaching from God this week. To put on the mind of Christ means to surrender oneself and come into unity and oneness with God. Then during prayer, it is no longer I who pray, but Christ Jesus who prays through me –
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
We looked at these 2 verses recently, let’s take another look –
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
My daily devotions all week from David Wilkerson have been about praying in the name of Jesus Christ. He has been talking about praying “..in Jesus name.” Here’s the verses he referred to:
John 14:12-14 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
What D. Wilkerson referred to is being in-Christ and it is no longer I who ask, but Christ in me who is praying. (Again, see John 15:7 and Galatians 5:24 above.) Amen.
I have come full circle back to this verse in Matthew 11:28-30. My entire week this week, our Teacher was teaching the same topic. It stared with Jesus is the Door, Jesus is the Door Pt2, and Jesus is the Door Pt3. In part 1, Tuesday night, I heard the Lord whisper to me “My yoke is easy..” as He was teaching me about Him and walking through the Doorway.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
It is truly dying to self, unity and oneness, surrender, Christ in me, etc. Here is the slam dunk of all slam dunks on this topic. Jesus, as He was about to be crucified, He was praying for the disciples (beginning of John 17), and then He prayed for the believers starting in John 17:20. He is ready to be crucified, and these are almost His final words:
John 17:20-26 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
I have to toss caution to the wind. We are not at one with the Trinity through our own power. See Galatians 5:24 – My flesh is crucified. I am dead. If I were to take action, the only action I should be taking is having Faith, Believing in the Son of God, and Surrendering. I yield this body, and die. I am only in unity and oneness with the Trinity through the Holy Spirit, not of my own works nor through this filthy body:
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
How do I do this?
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
How do I renew my mind? The word “Let” means we have to make a choice to allow it to happen. Trusting in the Lord is also a choice. Faith..
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
We surrender to the Holy Spirit, to Jesus Christ. We die. Walk through the Door. Amen, Amen, Amen.
Oh, and on Sunday or Monday this week, the Lord directed me to this song: We are One in the Spirit.
Praise God for blessed lessons. Lord, I pray this is written on my heart, on the frontlets of my eyes, and bound around my neck, never to be moved. Lord, protect this word.. cement it in me! The evil one wants me to forget about it in 2min. Don’t let him steal Your Word. You say that Your Word will not return to you void. I thank you that it will do what it is purposed to do. In Jesus name, amen.
